Estate Planning, Administration, and Real Estate Paralegal


Position Overview:

The Meier Law Firm, PLLC is an all-woman law firm dedicated to providing exceptional legal services to our diverse clientele. We are seeking a meticulous and motivated Estate Planning, Administration, and Real Estate Paralegal to join our supportive and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for empowering clients through comprehensive legal assistance.

We are a well-established law firm conveniently located in Latham. Our firm primarily represents individuals and their families with elder law matters such as estate and trust planning, estate and trust administration, Medicaid planning, applications and appeals, guardianships, corporate law, real estate and business succession planning. Our firm is dedicated to providing our clients with the highest level of counsel without judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Estate Planning:

  • Assist attorneys in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.

  • Assist with client interviews to gather necessary information for estate planning documents.

  • Coordinate the execution of estate planning documents, ensuring compliance with legal standards and client needs.

  • Maintain accurate and organized client files, tracking key dates and deadlines.

2. Estate Administration:

  • Facilitate the probate or administration process by preparing and filing petitions, notices, and other required court documents.

  • Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and court officials to ensure smooth administration of estates.

  • Assist with the valuation and inventory of estate assets, including real estate, personal property, and financial accounts.

  • Prepare and file necessary forms with government agencies.

3. Real Estate:

  • Support attorneys in real estate transactions, including the preparation of purchase agreements, leases, and closing documents.

  • Review title reports, and resolve any title issues.

  • Coordinate with real estate agents, lenders, and clients to facilitate smooth real estate transactions.

  • Attend closings, when possible.

  • Manage post-closing activities, including recording documents and disbursing funds.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution, or requisite experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, administration, and real estate law.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in legal research and case management software.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to client service.

Job Type: Full-time.

Annual Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000 and is commensurate with experience.

Benefits: include paid time off, continuing education and training. Employer contributions to a retirement plan and health insurance are available.
