Paralegal – Elder Law, Medicaid & Guardianships
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated paralegal to join our collaborative team. This dynamic role focuses on Medicaid Applications, Guardianships (Articles 17A, 17, and 81) and Estate Administration, offering a unique opportunity to work closely with clients at meaningful stages in their lives. The ideal candidate is proactive, client-focused, and eager to grow within a supportive and welcoming firm.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
Prior experience with Medicaid applications, guardianships, or estate administration strongly preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); experience with Clio or other case management software a plus.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong client service skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
A sense of humor and a can-do attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities
Medicaid:
Assist attorneys in preparing and submitting Medicaid eligibility applications and supporting documentation.
Gather and organize financial records, including bank statements, insurance policies, and asset documentation.
Communicate with clients to obtain necessary financial information and documentation.
Coordinate with local Departments of Social Services regarding application status and requests for additional documentation.
Track deadlines and follow up on pending Medicaid applications and recertifications.
Maintain organized client files and ensure all documentation is complete and properly submitted.
Guardianships:
Assist attorneys in drafting and assembling guardianship petitions, Orders to Show Cause, and supporting documents for proceedings under Articles 17-A, 17, and 81.
Coordinate filings with the appropriate courts and track all procedural deadlines.
Assist attorneys with preparing for court appearances and hearings.
Communicate with clients and family members to obtain information necessary for petitions and reports.
Maintain and update client files and track key case milestones.
Assist with preparation of Annual Financial Reports for Guardians.
Estate Administration:
Prepare and file probate and administration petitions, notices, and supporting documents with the Surrogate’s Court.
Communicate professionally with clients, beneficiaries, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
Assist with inventorying and valuing estate assets, including real property, personal property, and financial accounts.
Coordinate filings with relevant government agencies and assist in managing estate timelines and deadlines.
Maintain organized case files and assist attorneys with ongoing estate administration tasks.
